When is it REALLY official?

Today, Gov. Bill Richardson OFFICIALLY entered the 2008 Presidential election...

What confuses me is that he participated in the debate. Can anyone participate in a Presidential Debate, or do you actually have to be running for President? 'Cause if anyone can, sign me up. I'd like to talk about (in no particular order) gas prices, same sex marriage, ethics, the war, hypocracy...

The other thing that confuses me about today's OFFICIAL announcement is that there have been dozens of commercials for "Bill Richardson for President" on tv here (that's Sioux City for those of you who don't know me).

So, I guess we should OFFICIALLY welcome Gov. Richardson to the melee.

Speaking of hypocracy, watching Gov. Richardson on Meet the Press Sunday was enlightening. Apparently he's the "energy" candidate but is on the board of an oil company. When he was asked about this he said, "I needed to make a living".
